help please
I have a 98 explorer with a 4.0. It has a miss on the #3 cil
I cave changed
coil
plugs
wires
injectors
checked all wires and vac lines---ok
did comprestion test---ok
What am I missing? any help would be great. Thanks

Did you check to see if the ECM was sending a signal to the injector for the cyliner that is misfiring? Because i is either the ECM or the wire from the ECM to the injector has a short or something that could also cause this problem.

Ok, you can sometimes find injector problems with a mechanics stethoscope. Just listen tot he sounds of each injector. If you can verify that the #3 injector sounds different, then that means either it is not firing, or it is gunked up. Pull the connector and check for corrosion and hook an LED test light and check for signal. If you are getting good consistent signal, suspect the injector may in fact be bad. If the signal seems messed up, look at the crank position sensor, damaged wire harnesses, and any other components involved with timing and spark trigger.
