4LO light glows sporadically
Okay folks here is a weird one. "96 Bronco 4x4 shift buttons on the dash. With truck in 2wd the 4LO light will glow,not fully lit, as if I have a spook in my truck trying to get my attention. I put it in 4Lo, it goes in fine. Disengage and the light goes out, until the next time..... Any ideas? Not hugely concerned, just curious.

You've got a backfeed through wiring somewhere. My guess would be somewhere down around the shift motor where the harness is exposed to the elements and debris from the road. A small glow would indicate positive (+) backfeeding across the lamp filament to ground. The lamp should not illuminate until the electronic shift control module has verified the shift motor has engaged 4LO. In other words its not likely the problem exists in or near the switch itself unless you have wiring harness issues inside the dash.

Thankyou both for the help! When I finish tracing the idle problem it still has I will check out the wiring. I am posting the idling problem under the original post for '96 high idle, as this is a continueing saga... but we are making headway thanks to people like you.
