First off let me say that the both of you need to slow your role and edit some posts before you get your butts thrown off this site. There is no need for that kind of language on this site, it will not be tolerated! I also suggest that you two both re-read the forum guidelines so you may better understand whats appropriate and whats not.

Loaded down with 14k I get about 12-14mpg depending on what the terrain is like. In town un loaded I get around 15 and on the highway I get about 17-18.

I wish I was near you because I'd take the extra work. Of course I'd HAVE to do something about my power and mileage issue first, no doubt. I'll start with cleaning the fuel system before I do the exhaust and intake.

I do get 18 on the hwy like powerstroked162 but when I put a load on it, pfffft..... all down hill from there. And not only was I out of OD, I don't think it would have ever shifted into OD had I wanted it to with all the pedal the cruise was giving it just to maintain 63mph!

i get about 16 to 17 empty, but not more. Loads didnt have as much as an effect as they used to. You outta try the 6637 filter from NAPA. I have 3 55s in my 3/4 ton, but I dont think for lighter loads it makes any difference. Once you start geting to the 7k and up load (and since it looks like you have a decent gooseneck) you might be wanting the gear.

The last thing I want to do is switch to 4.11's. I don't mind traveling 65 out of overdrive, but I certainly want a bit of reserve power... especially since we have a 11k lb 5th wheel we have yet to tow that's sitting in Oregon. I'm starting to worry about what my performance might be with that.

I'll do a bit of work to it and reassess whether I want to keep it or buy something else.

The 4.10 gears are great for towing, while the 3.55's are great for hig speeds and well thats about it

Good advice. Let's keep this thread open since it seems to be getting back on track.

i love my 4.10's, granted i have 35 inch tires, so it runs more like 3.55;s, at 70 mph i am turning 2000 rpm, 60 is 1500-1600.

unloaded my norm is 17-18, but that is runing a mix of windy backroads at 60 and highway at 85, if i actually drove normal it will hit 20. towing my avg is 7-8k and i have hoverd around 14-15 mpg

Coon, if you got rid of those baloons or put your stockers on for towing you would see a big difference. Oh yeah, I guess that was a stupid statement. You knew that.

was just a joke bro... I thought stock size was 33'ish. Would help raise the rpm range a bit to get you into yhe peak at speed. But your right, your getting decent. I just have to try to squeeze as much out of both my trucks or it cuts into my profits. Was just saying, thats all......

ah, the tires on stock wheels, i get it this morning.......
stocks are 235\85\16, that comes out to a hair under 31 inches,
both of my trucks gained mpg when going from 265\75\16's to 315\75\16's on 4.10 gears, and yes i recalibrated the speedo on both trucks, they were tested with radar and are dead on. so all the people who said big tires drop economy, you are wrong unles you are running 40's on your stock gears, then i will buy it.
my 97 460 truck got 12 city, 14-15 highway, and i never babied it, ran the crap out of that truck.

you wont lose it when your empty, but once you get the loads on there, you will. I believe that its about 55 to 6500 pounds is where you start seing a difference. Atleast, thats where both my trucks started to see a jump.

Bigger tires, less RPM for the same speed. You ad bigger tires to stock its like a second overdrive. Youll notice that your 0 to 60 time is quciker with those bigger tires too. Tis a sort of pandoras box....LOL
