Yes some come with limited slip rear ends. Check your door jam sticker for the axle code. If its just numbers then you have an open rear of it have a "C" and a number you have a limited slip rear and they can be rebuilt with new clutch packs. About $100-150 in parts.

With some L/S carriers, jumping to a lower gear ratio may require a new carrier. If this is the case for you, I would just get a better L/S that does not use clutch packs. Ford units always wear out quickly.
Or, put in a Detroit locker and forget about it. I know that this is a costly option, but this is just a suggestion.

The easiest way to tell if you have posi is to jack up the rear end to where the tires are off the ground and then turn one wheel. If they both turn thr same direction then you have posi if one turns one way and the other turns the oposite then you do not have posi.

Scan the local junk yards for a 3 pinion SD posi. I just put one in mine and I gotta say it's massive. Took 2 people to lift it into the housing. Coonhunterjoe has a few picts of his swap. He was the one I got the idea from. Picked it up for $100 and it literally bolts right in to your existing housing using the same carrier shims. And what a difference I had an open carrier and my truck would get stuck in wet grass...no joke! It's a good thing it's 4x4.
