A few weeks ago we were on this topic and I replied that my wife's F-350 was blowing we didn't know what until finding this forum. Took it right to the dealer (real cool guy) who checked everything, got in order nad on our first trio to our new home, it blew again. Now we see what the new guy is like...........She bought the truck brand new and have had all kinds of problems. Enough that I think they should give her a hell of a discounted deal on a new 2008 F-450 Kings Ranch..................anyway this jug blowing uo every time you drive is getting old.

Thing is if the heads are warpd and they don't machine the heads to get them flat again, you'll run a more then likely chance of blowing coolant on an ongoing basis no matter how many times you put new headgaskets and bolts on. I would see if they would get a machine shop to take care of the heads and then see if they would let you put in headstuds and I would doubt that it would blow coolant again, of course, the only down side is that if your planning on trading in the new future that's going to be some money on your part invested in a truck, but if your going to keep the truck for a good while longer then go for that.

ya, the cyl. pressure with the banks is crazy. i think it stresses the bolts then deforms the heads too after prolonged use without the proper torque/compression of the head. thing is the metal is so thin not much success with machine the head flat because they so thin to begin with, thats why they warped.
ford just throws them away.

oh ya, after you get your heads fixed up you may want to look at extended warrenty for the tranny cuz i dont think there is any in existance the banks didnt eat!

Puking.

Hey all! I left my 2004 F450 at the 3rd. dealer for the puking coolant problem. This time the tech, felt the EGR COOLER and OIL COOLER needed to be replaced. Also he said the Fan Clutch has a delay of 5-7 seconds before it engages. It is 6 months old. Anyone heard of a high mortality rate on the fan clutches?? Also after the dealership agreed to work on my truck, they said because of the mileage (46K) that the Diesel engine protection warrenty would apply and therefore cost me $100.00 deductible. Let me say here that I purchased this truck Jan. 2007, and that it is a Manufacturers Buyback! And I was told that I had (1)year full warrenty, bumper to bumper! So I think I need to raise my hand and protest. Plus I needed to rent a car to get 70 miles home. On my 70 mile drive it struck me, that since this truck has been doing this puking since virtually the day I bought it, that I don't believe that I should be paying anything!!! I am also pondering getting a lawyer and making Ford take this truck back again, and sell me something that can stay out of the shop. Any input would be welcomed! Thank you! And GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS!!! DALEDIESEL

Ford is extremely vigalent before doing a head gasket and bolts fix with this engine as it is expensive particular as International is avoiding to share the associated warranty costs.

Your service shop should go thru the following tech bulletin for overflowing degas bottle
https://www.ford-trucks.com/tsb/full...hp?tsb=06-21-2

If your service shop is getting 16psi coolant presures when the truck is not towing you will very likely result in higher coolant presures when towing or hauling thus the puking. It does not seem like the 3 techs went thru the above technical bulletin particular the latest tech as oil and EGR coolers have been known to cause puking but for both to be replaced seems like the tech is simply just replacing parts by method of ellimination.

Ultimatley if you need head gasket and bolts replaced make sure Ford checks the head surface for flatness to ensure it is within specs by using the following tech bulletin
https://www.ford-trucks.com/tsb/full...p?tsb=06-21-10

I went thru the same with my 03 and Ford replaced my head gaskets and bolts. Truck runs great ever since. It is dissapointing Ford/ International didn't do a better job in testing this engine before release as they may have improved many things and in particular the week EGR system and head clamping.

Many are opting to buy ARP studs if your dealer is ok with installing them under warranty. I am not familiar with buy backs and warranty so others may assist.

Good Luck

Puking

Hey BC, thanks for your help! I am going to talk to these guys again today and mention the TSBs. This kid seems more knowledgeable than some others I have dealt with. I will post again and let you know what's up. DALEDIESEL

I just got my truck out of the shop thurs for the very same thing. They performed TSB 06-3-8. Long story short they replaced oil cooler, EGR cooler, both heads, and oil.

Puking.

Hey Miles, hope that ends your problems with your 6.0! I am not sure, I don't see any mention of the TSB you mentioned, but they sure changed a lot of stuff! I put my trailer on and took truck on test run Thursday, it actually got up to 70 degrees briefly. I have a 35 mile stretch of US 395, near me that I have had truck puke on before. Took off, and about 6 miles into it, on a log gradual (3 miles) udgrade, I got a loud BOOM!!, My Chihuahua pissed on the passenger seat, I lost power, and pulled off. Broke one of the turbo piping clamps on outlet to intercooler. Limped truck into Ridgecrest(12 miles), went to Ford dealer Service with clamp in hand. Service said it would be better for me to buy the clamp and install it myself. Because of $100.00 deductible, I suppose, well, luckily for me, I had tools in my racecar trailer, and climbed my Disabled old *** up into engine bay, and reassembled hoses. I aborted any more test drives and went home, cooled it off, and checked the rest of clamps, all seemed O.K. I am going to put on Cabover camper, and trailer and head to Phoenix, Az for some practice runs at Speedworld, will let everyone know how it comes out! Still don't understand why the turbo (4) needed replacing, no symptoms!!! Adios!!! DALEDIESEL

I did just get my truck back after having the EGR cooler and valves replaced as well as new head gaskets and ARP headstuds. Oh yeah, I also had the bedplate oil leak fixed (which was the real problem). After 1500 miles, not a drop of oil on the bellhousing!! Also got to tow a 7k pound trailer for about a hundred miles and no puking, but there were no hills. I didn't have puking before I had the ARP studs installed, so I really don't expect to have any puking afterwards! I just wanted to chime in and say that I'm very happy with the warranty work that was done on the truck and it gives me a nice sense of assurance while out on the open road!
I've always loved my truck and it will be hard when my wife eventually makes me trade it in on an Excursion.

This thread is great. I am having the same problems with my 05 6.0 with 30,000 on her. The coolant level since new was always at the full line even when towing in the dead of summer. Now she pukes even when not towing and the coolant level is staying at the bottom of the resivore. Is it possible for me to test the pressure in the cooling system myself? I am hopping its not the head gaskets. Are there any other indicators that I can look for to see if its the heads or not?
Thanks
Tim
