carb to efi
Or, should I swap out the intake on the $300 efi motor with the carbed intake on the '82? Would I have to change anything else if I go from efi to carb?

The EFI wiring harness and sensors are pretty much a stand alone unit, once you seperate it from the rest of the wiring all you have to hook up is a few power wires. So it is not complicated at all just get yourself a wiring diagram and you will have no trouble.
The Fuel system will have to be made a High pressure system because the 300EFI runs at about 50-60psi. A return line to the gas tank is also required. I am not sure but you could probably just use a gas tank out of an EFI truck and then you would have the fuel pump in the tank. The 300 also requires a High pressure fuel pump which is mounted on the frame rail. What I did was just bought a MSD high pressure fuel pump and used just it, it has plenty of flow and pressure to feed the 300, I believe the 300 needs 16gal of flow per hour if I remember correctly.
The accesory brackets and all that might have to be changed also as the EFI motor uses a serpentine belt.
Your exhaust will have to be modified as the EFI motor uses a dual exhaust manifold. You will also have to install a O2 sensor in order for the system to operate correctly.
I see you said that you don't have the wiring harness, what I did was went to the junkyard and pulled all the odds and ends of of a van with a 300 in it. I got the motor, wiring, accesories, and everything else I could grab for $250.
So if you have a fair bit of knowledge and/or the time to figure it out it is not really all that complicated, at least no more than any other engine swap.
Any thing I missed or you want explained more let me know.

I am looking into rebuilding an old truck with some new 'tech'. From a lot of research on the Internet, I have been told that the 300ci Inline Six is the biggest of all other sixes with a lot more torque than the 302 Windsor V8.
I am not a carby guy and I would like to ask when the first year the EFI 300ci six came out and in what Ford truck model? so I know what motor I am looking for to plant in my planned 1978 F-150 Supercab. Clifford Performance boasts they can do the 6=8cylinder conversion with Stage I and Stage II engine kits to maximise engine potential with more horsepower.
I ought to get a full State II kit and get it shipped to Australia and get the engine work done on the EFI 300 I6 for a Christmas present :-X12Just to double check, does the 1978 F-150 Supercab have rear seats along with the front seats?
(Like the 4 door crewcabs do but with only 2 doors)Any help will be much appreciated
Phil
Is there any EFI 300 I6 with Multi-Point EFI system?
Multi-Point EFI Improves fuel economy and power as well, the same to a 1992 EB Ford Falcon II with Multi-Point 4.0L six.

Now I can go look for a 87' 300 EFI motor and put it in my garage until I find a good 1978 truck.
Thanks mate
