1987 f150

I have a 1987 f150 with a efi 4.9 300 and was wondering if I could swap it out for a carbed 300 or preferably a carbed 351

Yes but why? IMO the EFI I6 runs a lot better than the carburated ones.

I'd just swap an EFI 300 back in. They have around 40HP more, and 42 lb-ft more than the carb 300.

You could swap in a carbed 300 fairly easily. The hard part is getting everything to work afterwards. The ignition would need to be changed to the older Duraspark 2. Then you could remove the frame rail mounted high pressure pump and run off the in-tank low pressure pump(s). The next part is triggering and then latching on the fuel pump relay with no computer.

If you have an E4OD, perhaps not in 1987, then you have to figure out how to make the computer controlled transmission to work.

A lot of work to go back to the stone age.

Swap over the parts from the other I6. Intake and exhaust manifolds, injectors and accessories. The wire harness is still in the engine bay so plug things back in. I still think you are making this harder on yourself and going backwards if you are still trying to change to a carburater.

Yes, you will need to get the 45-50 psi down to 5-6(?) psi for the carb.

As previously noted the in-tank pump(s) are low pressure, remove the inline high pressure pump and keep the fuel reservoir. The carb will work fine with the pressure provided by the in-tank pump. No need for a pressure regulator.

What do you plan to use for the ignition?

The block you swapped in is also cracked? You stated in post #11 that you already swapped out the engine with the cracked block. What I was saying is all you needed was the long block and swap over the parts from your old engine.
