Ok, its Saturday night, I have top have m,y pickup fixed by Monday morning for work. It had been over heating. Replaced thermostat. Nothing. Flushed radiatior. Nothing. Replaced hoses. Nothing. Now I need to know how to get my fan clutch assem, bly off. I've loosend the 4 bolts that hold the fan to the clutch and the 4 bolts that hold the pulley in place. Nothing. Do I need a speacial tool? Is it possible with out it? AutoZone dude said theres no way I can mount a flex a lite fan on my truck because of style of hub on water pump. What can I do?

HELP!! FAST!!

Overheating where - around town and sitting in your driveway (fan clutch?) or when driving it on the highways at +55 MPH (no real clue what that would be)?

Yes, I believe there is a special tool needed for the fan. Ask or call NAPA.

I haven't looked at how the fan rotates on the clutch, but you might be able to wire it together (depending on its design) to keep the fan rotating until you get the tool and the clutch fixed.

Is your water pump pumping? Is you radiator cap good & holding the correct amount of pressure?

HELP!! FAST!!

Hello, before you panic you might check a couple of things if its not too late,
first and dont get mad but is the thermostat in right?
do you have a coolant leak?
is there any white smoke out the tailpipe?
are any belts busted or horribly loose on the fan?

Let us know how you make out!

HELP!! FAST!!

Hi,you need a special tool to seperate the fan from the waterpump.
The fan is bolted to the fan clutch and the fan clutch is screwed to the water pump shaft. Removing all the bolts you did ( 8) won't help. If you look at the Rear side of the fan by where it is bolted to the fan clutch you will see a hex this is what screws on to the water pump shaft. The tool is a long thin wrench to grip this hex and an even larger wrench that uses the four bolts that hold the waterpump drive pulley to the pump shaft as nut flats, think of the four bolts as the corners of a very large nut. The wrench set runs about $20 at Pep Boys or Autozone. I forget now which way unscrews the fan clutch from the pump, some times it is marked on the hex. You can't get a Flex fan because of this arangement,I have looked, the flex fan would have to have a three inch hole in the center.

HELP!! FAST!!

WHOA..I'm going through the same problem...
I replaced the t-stat a few times, all the hoses, new clutch i just replaced the water pump and flushed the radiator a few times and still nothing...it's either my timing or radiator is bad.
when I took the fan off to get to the water pump and just stuck a wrench on it..I forgot the size, and i gave it a few taps with a hammer while I was trying to hold the wrench so it actualy didn't move. If you just try pulling it with the wrench it will just move around and around...so you need to put the wrench on and hold it(the wrench) kind of tight at the top and give it a few solid taps toward the left, the vibrations will break it loose.

1.Remove 3 bolts off the fan, leaving one to hold it in place.
2.Remove 3 bolts off the pulley and leave one to hold it in place.
3.Align the 1 bolt on the fan and the 1 bolt on the pulley so they are facing eachother and turn them so the are out of the way(turn them so the are at the bottom of the fan and pulley), if you look straigt down you shouldn't be able to see them because they would be hidden from the big nut in the center holding the fan clutch.(get it?)
4.Put the wrench on the nut and give it a few taps like i explaind above.

The nut it actualy part of the clutch so they won't seperate as it might apearre.

HELP!! FAST!!

You didn't happen to slip a piece of cardboard between the condenser and radiator last winter did you? That would certainly cause you to overhead this time of year.

Been there, done that.
