In my opinion new fluid will fix a slight shudder. I've never seen new fluid make a shudder worse.

I would definitely try a tranny flush first. Even if it doesn't fix it, at least you tried your least expensive option first.

The new fluid can make the shutter worse, but not always. I have seen it take care for the sutter for a very short period of time. The band on the lock up inside the converter needs to be replced.
