YEP Ive got the dreaded slip/brumph when shifting into overdrive under light load.....can anyone tell me what it is and how to fix it....Thanks, Dickyboy
I had a similar thing a few weeks ago and found it wasn't trans slipping going into overdrive but torque slipping when it locked
when torque slipped trans would shift seeming like trans was slipping
try locking out of overdrive and see if torque slips like mine did
I think you guys are on to somthing...by light load i mean quarter pedal at most..If I went through the gears at half pedal wont do It....only going Into overdrive...never going Into 2nd or 3rd,Just overdrive...and It does feel like a tourque converter shudder.....but how do you fix/tighten that up...
Thanks to you guys Im convinced my baby suffers from tourque converter lock up shudder...shes at 202,000..and like new...just had the total trany service at 150,000..fluid looks and smells good.....thanks for all your help...Dick
Sorry, after reading my last post, It sounds like Im done ....but I still need to fix It....I just ment to say I don't think the fluid Is the problem....I guess Im looking for somthing I can do short of replacement.....any Ideas
With 50,000 on the fluid it's time for a change. One of the symptoms of worn out trans fluid is torque converter shudder. The only other thing I can suggest to fix it is to rebuild the trans and replace the torque converter. Of course that will get you new trans fluid, which is probably your problem.
You can have the trans flushed, INCLUDING the torque converter. This usually works on most vehicles. The problem is if you havent serviced the trans regularly, it could make it worse by taking the metal out of the fluid, good luck.
mine was doing it at 7k miles on rebuilt trans and new torque
was talking to john wood about a new torque and he sugested getting a DP Tuner instead
the torque slip is goe now and everthing is like new again
is it a bandaid ? who knows right now
well..I was told the fluid change will probably make my slight lock up shudder worse....suggested $ 2,000.00 rebuild......off to amco to get a second opinion.....anybody ever experimented with a chem fix????
