Well heres the deal . . . the tranny shop I had my truck done at scratched the roof a little bit (most of it will buff out) and a couple nicks...however it is not extensive and I figured I could use the $398.09 more usefully, considering they just wrote the check out in my name. Tomorrow I will be ordering my DP-Tuner. I think that I am going with no start, stock, high idle, 60 tow, 80 econo, 120 race, and 140 aggressive.
I will be calling Jody first thing tomorow morning but I had a few preliminary questions I hoped you guys could answer for me.
So for a few questions...
First off, my truck is an early 99 and I got to thinking and does this affect anything? Will my horsepower/torque numebrs be farther off than the guys with 99.5-03 that have the bigger turbo/HPOP/injectors. Any concerns for in this area?
What does everyone use for high idle? I was thinking 1200 RPM's but any logic on deciding this number?
This last one is directed more towards Kris because I have heard him talk about it before. What is so bad about the stock tip-in fueling. I have been toying arond with the idea of having Jody leave this out like Kris did. How much of a difference would this make in the 'economony-ness' of the 80 econo?
Any other suggestions or opinions? I will also be ordering the ITP Over-boost Annihilator to take care of those annoying overboosts I can manage sometimes on occasion.
Sorry for rambling, I want to make sure I have everhting I researched right and make sure before I spend $500 I know exactly what I will be getting into. I'm already getting anxious and I haven't even ordered it yet!!!
Just call Jody in the AM and talk to him. I did that today, very nice guy to deal with. I ordered a 60T 80E 80T 120R stock, and a 1200idle. I did not order a 140smoke due to the age of my HPOP
Santacruz-it is about 30* here in Illinois at 9:00 pm, it gets pretty cold here but not super cold
And thank you, but yes I know it will be about $489 for what I want, plus shipping. Nothing will come out of my pocket though because I have my old programmer sold for $100
And bdrummonds-I do plan on calling him tomorrow AM. do you think my HPOP is too old as well, being an early 99 with 205,xxx miles?
Also, just wondernig but how much was shipping rates and how quick did you receive it. Does he only offer ground or does he do 2 day shipping as well?
whats the chances my impatient self can get him to have it shipped here by friday evening?
Ray and I have a little edge on the quick shipping, I am only 140 miles from DP , and Ray is in the same state(sometimes).... When I talked to Jody today he said he would ship mine out on WED, so that means mine will be here by friday. My total with the above tunes, and shipping was $444. I thought that was kinda cool the way the total worked out.
As far as your HPOP, IDK it all depends. HPOPs are funny animals, some will put out all the PSI you could want with stock squirters. and some will just fall on their face. Jody flat out told me my HPOP would probably set codes with the 140.
i figure once it breaks, replace it with something newer and improved, stronger and more reliable
and i agree 100% with getting it even if its only for one time...might as well get it now that have to resend it back in later and go through all that trouble
140 will do you no good on the early 99... it cant even handle the 120... we have smaller injectors and HPOP...as well as the turbo..i went to 99.5 turbo.. it lowered my EGT's by 100 to 150 but didn't help out the chip any.. but it did clean up some smoke..up grade the HPOP and injectors then get the 140...for now save the cash.. I'm sure Jody will tell you this any ways
I'm one of those that didn't get the 140 and regret it. BUT, I knew I wasn't done with mods anyway, so another trip to Jody was in the works. I do have an '02 with the newer stick, turbo, and HPOP, and it still has issues with setting codes with the 120R. However, I noticed that after doing all my fuel system mods (especially the Hutch), I wasn't getting the codes as easily.
Speaking of....
Ron, did you ever get to your in-tanks mods?? Just wondering. And yes, we're finally in place and have all our systems up so I'm able to get on from the sand pit.
yes I did..last weekend..every thing went great with out a hitch..marked where the ring came off and when it went back in I turned it to the same mark and no leak..truck is a lot quitter..I have more power in the 80 and less black smoke..now she falls on her face half way though my 120 race rather then on top of the 80econo..I regret waiting so long to do this now...had the kit for almost a year i need a 17* HPOP now..wish i was ritch man lol how are things going over there???
