Door jam switch access?

This is something I've been meaning to fix for a while..

How can I get to them? I bought new switches and managed to lose the plug inside of the hold in the body. Tried a magnet but it was no help.

Is there some access point I'm missing?

You dropped the wire into the kick panel area? It should come up the side and be accesibel somewhere and if you can get it a coat hanger or something should help get it back through the little hole. Good luck.

well, the big issue is that the wire doesnt seem to be long enough to come out of the hole. I need to hold it from the other end to plug the switch in.

There is a 2 inch round rubber plug under the dash in the rear upper conner just behind the factory AC vent. The wires go through that and then down the pillar to the door pin switch. Remove the plug and you can now slide the wires farther through it. This will let you pull the wires out farther and have full access to the plug.

This should help.

Try a piece of mechanics wire with a hook on the end of it and snare it

That's perfect, thank you..

I think I'm going to go ahead and pull mydash. My ducts for cooling are tore, my heatercore went out, these switches need replaced, the lights in my instrument cluster is out, plus I think I have a vacuum leak to my AC controls.

I think I have enough issues to justify it, heh.. Gonna go ahead and search to see how tough it is

Search?? DO!!

Pretty much all you have to do is disconnect everything from the sheet metal, inst. cluster, switches, drop the steering column, unbolt dash from support, and the screws on the top, and bolt on each side....

Vacuum it out. Rig up a small dia. extension for your vacuum cleaner and stick it in there. When putting the new one in attach a longer wire than you need to a stiffer (but still flexible) wire and work it in through the little hole the switch goes in up through the access hole in the kick panel. Kinda like electricians run wire. Then attatch the switch and...voila!

I have found that an old speedometer cable makes an excellant fish tape for pulling wires. The inside of the cable of course... very flexable
