There should be a customer access wire that hangs freely above the transmission hump, behind the dash, below the radio (or around there, it should have a sticker with "Customer Access" printed on it). But I've never checked to see if it's switched or constant. I believe it's connected to fuse #29 (10 amp).

Oh, excellent. I noticed that customer access fuse but wasn't aware there was a wire anywhere. I'll have to dig around in there and see if I can find it. I'd prefer a switched wire but if it isn't that won't be the end of the world. Thanks.
Well, I went out and crammed my head up under there and saw a solid white wire taped to the bundle that goes to the obd2 diag connector with a tag that said customer access see body builders book. Poked it with a test light and it is indeed switched power from fuse 29.
I just went out to my '04 and did the same thing. Tested the same white/lt.Blue wire and mine also tested-out as switched (with ignition in the "ON" position) and connected to fuse #29. At least now I know it's a switched circuit.
I didn't see a light blue tracer on it but I didn't look too close. I tried it with the key out and with it in the on position and only got a light with the key on. Then tried it with fuse 29 pulled out and got nothing.
Did you check to see if the wire was hot with the ignition switch turned to "ACCESSORY"? I'm curious to know if it works then as well, but I'm to lazy to go back out and check.
It didn't appear to have power in the accessory position when I tried it. I'm more interested in it being on in the run position and off with the key out as I intend to hook an lcd to it for a rear view camera. That said I'll need switched power at the back of the truck which there is on the trailer connector. Was wondering if the tow command module does anything weird like monitor current draw off that?
Anyone know of a wire where I can get 20-30 amps of switched power? The customer access wire (white w/blue stripe) is only 10 amps. Only thing I can think of is taking it from the battery lead, but then it won't be switched.
If you're going to go with that much juice, just use the 10A customer access wire as the trigger for a Bosch 40A relay wired directly (fused of course) to the battery.

That was my plan, but I was hoping to maybe find a wire with that kind of power just sitting there waiting to be used. Guess I can't avoid the extra work installing a relay. Thanks for the input.
That much juice requires a paid for option . . . Called Upfitter switch's. How many wire you think they leave "just hanging around" under the dash?
Hey, you never know what goodies you can find under the dash. I ended up installing a 30Amp relay this morning with the customer access wire as the trigger. Everything is all good.
