I've got a decent radiator leak developing that needs to be addressed in the near future. From what I've read here, it sounds like the factory radiators are aluminum/plastic assemblies. Mine is not, it's all metal, so maybe I can get it soldered. I've found a few used ones locally for $50 each, one is from a 93, one is from a 2000 SD. The SD model says it's for manual trans with no cooler in it, so that one sounds good if the mounting and hose locations work. Anyone done this swap?
I have not done the swap so I can not help you with the fit. But the metal radiators can be soldered. Find a good radiator shop and have them look at it. If the core is too far gone to repair, most of the time you can have them order you a new core and take the ends off of yours and put them on the new core ALOT cheaper than a new radiator. You never know what your getting with a used radiator. We have new cores put in our tractor radiators when they go bad. Just my $.02
I would not get a used Rad until it was pressure checked by a rad shop. Not sure of the fitment of the superduty unit though. But like said already it might be worth having the rad shop look at yours to see if its repairable.
