How about a single 3.5"-4" exhaust? I think it would be easier to route on a high-boy than trying to snake duals under/around the NP205. My father ran dual 3" Flowmasters behind his 417 (bored 390 w 428 crank). It sounded like a dragster going through the woods, torque didn't seem to be a problem pulling 38"s with 4.10 gears. He was running heddman headers also. It pulled like an ox, pass most turbo diesels on hills with loads.
i have headman ceramic coated headers with 2.5" true duals coming out infront of the tires with goerlich single chamber mufflers. everyone said there wasnt a gas truck in town that sounded better than mine. got em off ebay for $30 a piece.
I've got heddman elites, flowmaster 40's that dump right under the bed before the axle. Its loud and resonates but I haven't yet the time to turn them out to the side. And I'd like to think I'm gonna put a crossover in there one of these years. Backpressure? my understanding is that if you loose enough backpressure you'll start smokin exhaust valves but I haven't seen it for myself. I've never worried about it.
I think I will be leaning towards the Flowmaster Super 40. That is the only muffler they offer that has a 2.5" dual in/dual out in one muffler. It would save money only buying one muffler.
