I want to get duals for my pickup. I have a 1979 F-250 with a 3" flomaster 2 into one muffler. I was thinking about the flowmaster 40 series.. i want something loud and helps out power... i want it to be aggressive but still sound good... I was looking into glass packs but i am concerened about the sound. If anyone has any clips with mufflers or tips on what mufflers to get it would be greatly appreciated. The motor is a 390, that is going to eventually be bored and stroked and have fpa or hedman headers.
I run teh FPA headers with Magnaflow stainless mufflers. the mufflers are single in, dual out 2.5" mufflers, giving me 2 pipes exiting each side of the truck. the magnaflows sound like there is not much inside them.
here are some audio and video clips. the phone videos from the track are mostly with the cut-outs closed (through the muffler). but there might be one pass in there with them open. http://www.thedreyerfamily.com/69f25...fe446audio.htm
I don't have the 40's but I have the 3 chamber Flowmasters with Dynomax headers. 2.5 inch pipe all the way back from the 3 inch collectors. I like the setup as it really screams when I put my foot in it, but at cruise and idle, it quiets down a bit. Sounds really good. I would definitely do duals. I also have a very warm build 390. Good Luck!
