Need a flywheel for a '66 390. Anyone know the casting numbers so I can at least make sure what I'm looking at in the boneyard.
Also, have a '65 f-250 4x4 with a 352. The motor mounts I don't think are stock - the front is behind the radiator and bolts to the block below the timing cover, the rear bolts to the rear cross-member, anyone familiar with this setup?

Can't help ya on the 390 question; I not 100% sure 390 was a 66 option for trucks? I do know your question in regards to your 65 4x4 motor mounts location are right because of it being a 4x4 setup. Check your block number on your 390 (located on passenger side near starter. I wonder if it starts with C6TExxxxx..
I'm not the final answer on your questions but I hope I helped...
Welcome aboard....
Coloradoforder, The 66 4X4 was still built on the 60-64 chassis and uses different engine mounts.
The 428 & 410 FE engines use the externally balanced 428 crank with a different flywheel, all others use the same one. Basically any flywheel you get from a truck should work as there were no 410s or 428s installed in trucks.
The flywheel should be available from your favorite parts house too.

You didn't specify what the 66 390 flywheel is for, but reading your other post, you said for standard 4 speed. There were two different four speeds available: Warner or New Process.

Allen, You just might be right, don't know my 4wds like the 2wds. Sure did think I read here that the 4X4s were on the older chassis though.
John
Allen is correct, the 1966 F100 was built on the new chassis, but it was introduced after the rest of the 1966 lineup came onto the market. The first 1966 F100 4WD was serial number 778,001.
Thank you all for the help. I think what I'm looking at is a flywheel, 184 teeth, clutch disc of 11-1/4 and total overall diameter of 15-5/16. Found no casting numbers of any kind - going to run me 80 bucks including resurfacing grind, any opinions?

Ford, in their infinite wisdom, marked some flywheel casting/engineering numbers using a rubber stamp!
If there's heat (blue) spots on that flywheel, don't bother resurfacing it.
