Continually. Specifically, passenger side red, which is rather in the middle of the cable.
What it does is plain and simple just works loose. Every couple of weeks. Frustrating, because it wont start if the thing comes loose, and I've tightened the living daylights out of it and it still does it.
So this morning, kid is gonna be late for school, I'm gonna be late for work, I pulled it off with my hand, cleaned it, put it on, tried to tighten with a ratchet, it still turned, so I took a (close your eyes now) hammer and large flathead screwdriver, aka BFS and walked around the fitting crimping it to the terminal. Permanant like.
Now, while that fixed it today, someday someone is going to want to take it off again. When that happens, is it a hard thing to farmer rig a new connector in there or is one just better off to replace the whole thing?
Reminds me of an old carpenter adage - there is no problem that can't be resolved by using a bigger hammer.
at this point you probly need a new cable end
what you may try is taking bolt out and saw some of the part away that is in gap making it a little wider may also need new bolt
use to be able to buy battery post shims at battery dealers and electrical shops, haven't bought any in quite a while

they need to be at least the crimp type I only use solder on ends
The ones that I get from Interstate battery are solid brass and they crimp on to the end of the cable. Then I solder them from there and put some heat shrink.
I just rebuilt the cables on my Rabbit, but it's home right now. I'll post some pictures tomorrow. They turn out better than factory.
I have built battery and starter cables for years,I always keep rolls of different size cable and ends
for most of my own use I build them out of welding cable
he means on the passanger side...the one that is tied in the middle of the cable on the pos. side of the battery .. i to need to do something with mine..i drilled a screw in between the post and the terminal too keep it tight for now..been like the for about 3 months now..i think the only fix is a new cable..
