air in pump?

air in pump?
i have a 97 f-150 4x4 wife came home with the power steering pump growling and not asisting looked like leaky pressure line. changed out no leaks but still growling and only steering above idle,,,,question is can it be a real bi*** to get air out or do i just change pump? im usually on the 94.5 -97 psd forums,,,this ones got me stumped

you fill the resivour, start truck, turn the wheel slowly from one stop to the other 3-4 times. then check the fluid level. if it did not go down, the air is gone and the pump is bad. if it went down, fill it up an do again.
