you are right tjbeggs the lockrite locker just replaces the spider gears no need to mess with ring and pinion i found one of summit for $408 i'm gonna make sure it fits then order it
You can do what the lock right locker does with a mig welder by welding on your spider gears, but i do not suggest it unless its a mud truck or a quick fix.
If your buying a new differential assembly, you still need to buy shim packs for the pinion and the carrier.
I'm not sure what the backlash will be for a diesel 5 speed.
To mesure it, you will also need to borrow a dial indicator that you can bolt onto the houseing, or one with a magnet.
Other then that.. oh yes.
Don't forget to get a new crush sleeve or 2. and you will need a Torque wrench to set the pinion Drag. That part is important. I way overset mine, but it's okay, But i dont suggest doing it to your dualy.
I can't think of any links right now to help you out with this. I got it all in my head except for the numbers.
Oh yea, don't forget to get bearings for the pinion and the differential houseing, unless they already come pressed on.
Do not hammer on bearings to your pinion or your differential, please press them.
William the lock right locker goes right inside of a an open differential carrier so there is no set up work that needs to be done to the diff. Now other types of full replacemant lockers that would be true!
BTW, William, I got your message. I didn't answer cause I was one my way to my first soccer game of the season! boy was I huffing and puffin! I haven't touched a soccer ball in 9 years!! Glad to hear your truck is back together! good luck finding a hub!
