WOW, I wired a variable resistor to the ICM plug where the 10k mod gets plugged in (no 10k), and now i can adjust on the fly!!!
Heres the thing... I know i've said it before, but my truck WILL NOT SMOKE. When i turn the **** wide open, i can now break the wheels loose at 50km/h, and get sucked in the seat, but less smoke than a cigarette!
Could i have a problem somehow? I can say that other newer trucks smoke more than mine without a chip....
I know i shouldnt WANT smoke, but i'm getting rather curious as to why the truck will run that hard and not even puff.....
how much resistance is full load on your potentiometer? i have been playing the resistor game as well and on the old body trucks runnign the 15* hpp, a 22k icp resistance wired my way, not the traditional way, is about the most a 15* pump can handle. i would imagine your 17 pumps are going to be similar since your injectors require more oil to fire than mine do. how are you wired in the circuit? this could be your problem as well.
From what i understand is this:
This mod only increases the pressure to the injectors. IT does not really increase the fuel that is injected all that much. I'm sure it will inject more fuel for the same pulse width since it's at a higher pressure as the internals will travel farther with the higher pressure. However the higher ICP will inject fuel at higher pressure resulting in a better burn which is what i beleive makes the SOTP feel not the small amount of added fuel. So i wouldn't really expect it to smoke much since it is burning cleaner with a higher ICP due to higher fuel pressure at the nozzle.
Just my thoughts.
When I increased my 10K to 15K wired the correct way the truck revs up then falls on it's face around 1,800 RPM cutting almost completly out. This is a 1996 with 205,000 miles no other mods. Do I have other problems?
