We have a lot of gun shops here that will rent you a firearm by the half hour to try out different brands. You might have some there that would do the same.
I'll have to check that out, see what can be found.

I need to practice that.
It is heavier than the Benelli by a bit, but seems more stable. It cycles very smoothly.
The SX3 is quite a bit lighter. I have not shot one of those either.
I still use my Win 120 pump for pheasants.
who makes the SX2? all this talk as me going into withdrawals.
I know it's more than you wanted to spend but there are other brands in your price range that make an officer's sized 1911 that would carry just the same. Actually I think S&W is one of them.
yeah, I know that there a lots of brand's prices, and sizes, the hard part in the choseing...so mini options and so little money :-)
whar are your thoughts on compacts (the ones a step/size below a full size pistol)

Much easier to carry for not that much difference in size and only one round less in the mag. My daily Kimber is one step down from full size. Typically called an officer's model (or a commander's model.) Mine is a 4 inch, not a 3. I do have a full size 5 inch barrel too, but I don't carry it since I got the smaller one.

Super X Model2 is a Winchester brand - I don't know if it's still US Repeating Arms or another company that actually manufactures it.
I have a Model1. I like it a lot, but it's only chambered for 2 3/4" shells. I need somthing that will shoot 3" and I don't really want to spend for a Benelli for a duck gun.

You could probably get a closeout SX2 chambered for 3 1/2 (shoots both 3 and 3.5 inch) for a pretty good price. A few of the sporting goods stores, expecially the smaller ones have one or two left.
Actually I would also check Gunbroker.com and GunsAmerica.com to find some leftovers.
ok i am not a gun freak, i have used many and quite a few in face to face combat. i couldnt tell you about bullet loads, and have no interest in specs and stats. when i was in the service the teams were testing the 9mm vs the 45's . i no longer have any interest in what my brothers are carrying. buy something that works for you, feels right, and will do what you feel you need it to do. now for the important part, learn to strip it fast, and learn to fire it under stress. if you ever need your weapon you will not be in a static range type situation. get your heart rate screaming, run, push ups squat thrusts, whatever. just get your heart pounding and your breath short, then do your firing. learn to hit what you are aimming for when you cant control your body. that is the way you will shoot if you ever genuinely need it so get great at it. just my .02 good luck. thats good advice, Thank you once I get a weapon I intend to do just that. I know that, that can be a major downfall of anybody that trains in self defense, be it hand to hand or with a firearm. When the ***** hit's the fan people tend to panic unless they train for it.
If, all the training paid off ....yep all depends on the person, and how diligent they were in there training.
Yep! I Agree.
I talked to a friend/officer here, and he told us he didn't know how he would do
in a situation where he had to use his side arm.
No sooner than the first week after his police academy training finished, he was
involved in a shootout, along with his training partner, and about thirty other
cops and the SWAT team. That made the 5, 6, and 11 pm news.
He told me he was scared crapless and that his adrenaline was flowing high.
Me. I would have stood up, drawn my 6 shot revolver, and fired at least 50
rounds, without even reloading, dodging the bullets like a Miyagi ninja warrior

just like in the movies
so what are the cops carrying in your neck of the woods?
