So-Cal Fires

HELP ! We are seriously on Fire !

Hope all you San Diego County FTE folks are OK. So Far, 5 of our friends have lost everything...... Won't know it all until they allow everyone back to their neighborhood. 250,000 people evacuated.

Thanks to everyone. - Just to be clear, we are OK at the moment. The fires are both north and south of me. So for now, we are packed up, but waiting it out.

I was really giving a shout-out to other FTE'rs whom I know live in areas where the evacuations have been. There have been hundreds of homes lost and they have very little containment because of the winds. Many Many homes lost. Tough phone calls to receive when you know them......

Thanks Again,

Ernie

I was thinkin' about you Ernie and wondering how you were doing...no fires here in El Cajon yet, just like the Cedar Fire 4 years ago it passed by us to the North. The TV news is like watching a trainwreck, you don't want to see it but you can't look away. I really hate to see so many folks lose their homes. 250,000 people have been evacuated already, many will not have a home to go back to later. I guess this is the SoCal version of a tornado, it's a damn mess.
I got room here at the house if anyone needs a place to stay til this thing works it's way through, don't think that the winds will change so we should be out of the woods for now.

Do this Ol First Responder a favor, if they come and tell you it's time to go please do as they say. We don't need them facing any additional risks.
And besides, I wouldn't want you to make an ash of yourself.

I'll also add some words to the cue for all at risk.

Well, I thought I was clear from the Canyon Country fire, it spread fast to Saugus and now jumped to Stevenson Ranch. I'm about 2 miles from the fire right now. Very difficult to breathe and the wind just doesn't stop. Several people in my area have had their homes destroyed. Tonight will be a tough night. Kids are out of school for a while. I've never seen anything this crazy yet, and I've lived in CA all my life. This is out of control. Firefighters really need a break. Fortunately, I took the day off for my B day today so I've been home with the family. This is one Birthday I won't forget!

Many thoughts and fervent prayers for you all. Some of my earliest memories are of one of the Malibu fires... about 2 canyons over from us.

Be safe and, like Dick said, when they said "Go", don't even hesitate.
