I know exactly how eman feels. Its like your a sitting duck waiting to get shot at. You get a sense of hopelessness, fear, and anger all in one and can't do anything but sit there wait. It's that uncertainty that drives you nuts. The wind plays games with your mind and you end up at the point where you just get tired of it all. Eman, the winds have stopped in my area, so hopefully they will in your neck of the woods. The heat isn't helping either. It was 92 today and very dry. Hang in there! Think positive, and this too shall pass. Meantime, keep the frosties cold!
I just watched the news tonight here in CA. The news and fire investigators say the San Diego fire was definitely arson. Here's the kicker.......It's a firefighter!

Sadly, that is not as unusual as one would think...
No Butt Kickin needed. The Sheriffs and F.D. know I'm here and the evac center is only a mile away. I have a Scanner on 24/7 with all the fire/police frequencies so I'm pretty much on top of things. I may be big and ugly but I'm no fool. After all, I have a grandaughter to spoil.

The most prolific arsonist of all time is John Orr, the former chief fire investigator for the Glendale CA FD.
Read all about it: Joseph Wambaugh wrote a book on Orr: Firestarter.
Court TV and A&E's American Justice also did shows profiling Orr.

There can hardly be any kind of meaningful arguement if there are no misguided 51/52 guys around. Bobby
Uhmmmm....THAT would be ME!!!
Seriously, glad you all are (so far) doing ok. I haven't heard how it's going today, will check shortly, but late yesterday, they were hoping for some relief from the heat, with winds coming in off the ocean, and helping the firefighters.
It's better today the whole sky isn't brown overcast. The wind is changing back to the normal onshore flow but it is unpredictable. This makes it more dangerous. We lost firefighters 4 years ago at this stage up in Julian. The Santa Anas had died down and the fire doubled back on thme cutting them off.
I flew a few exectives last monday to Santa Ana and departed for home on Wednesday afternoon. As we desended over the last foothills we crossed over two large fires blowing east to west brown smoke up to about ten thousand feet high. We could see the Santa Ana winds blowing the dust across the ground at high speeds thru the valley from Palm Springs to L.A. areas. As we desended thru ten thousand feet the aircraft inside air changed to a strong smoke smell. We were in a long line to the airport taking us about fifthteen miles out over the ocean and it was still a brown haze with low visibility. During our stay the TV reported people having breathing problems. Walking around the aircraft before departure the wings had a light coating of ash from the fires blowing east to west. Seeing live pictures of the DC-10, ex-airliner dropping fire retardent at such a low level was amazing. Today looks much better according to the news. I think everyone's prayers help so much. Have a great day, chuck
