So every day when I go out to get in the truck for work I crank it and it turns over and starts but is like sputtering as if it is not getting any fuel or power or something I don't know, but then after about 10 or 15 seconds the 5.8 rev's up on its own and runs fine. I was just wondering if anyone knew what this was, thanks.
I remember a while ago my check engine light came on and I went to the auto store and got a reader and it said something about an o2 sensor, but I have 3 so I wasn't sure which one to check.
Was that just a generic code reader or a snap-on code reader etc? Sometimes going to the dealer and using their code reader is the better choice since theirs is thorough and can pin point problems more accurately on the harder problems to diagnose.
Maybe Hemi but the dealer will usually charge you so bad your kids will feel the bill.....however, which code reader did u use?could also be a bad fuel filter....
It could be any number of things, but chances are it's not the O2 sensors. Check for a vacuum leak. Remove the Idle Air Control valve and clean it. Clean the Mass Air Flow Sensor if your truck has one. Clean the throttle body with throttle body cleaner and a lint free rag. Check the ignition timing.
Run a bottle of Sea Foam through a full tank of gas. Pull a couple of spark plugs and check their wear and also the coloring for proper burn. Check the spark plug wires for any cracks or chafing.
Yeah, the idiot who owned the truck before me didn't take care of it like at all so I'm pretty sure it hasn't had a decent tune up in a while, where is the IAC valve?
How do you clean the MAF Sensor.
What does the seam foam do?
Last thing, how do you know if you have a vacuum leak?
