Did you pull away the front-seat passenger-side kick panel? Since the F-250 SDs and Excursions are basically the same, I figure you would have one. Someone here said that the over head electronics plugs into the same plug. Do you have the overhead electronics? Usually, black = negative & red = positive. I would assume in your case, black = negative & brown = positive. Does + & - really matter when it comes to just lights?
Yes I have over head electronics. I found the plug it was using and I unpled the over head and pluged in the lights and they did not work. So where can I tap in for the brown wire. I want it to be hoocked up to the other lights that the trucks has,
Thanks,
Nick
$78.28 for 5 lamp assemblies and the harness at the local dealer. They had the lamps in stock and got the harness overnight from a dealer in Portland.
There are two differant harnesses, one is for trucks with the overhead console and vanity mirrors. The other is for trucks w/o.
LAMP ASSEMBLY = F812-15442-AA (will need 5)
WIRE HARNESS = 1C32-15A404-AA (need 1) this is the # for w/o overhead console and will work. I have some pics somewhere on how to do it, probabably easier just to get the right harness (plug and play) but I would have had to wait longer to get it.
Will also need 10 5mm nylock nuts and flat washers or 1/8 X 3/4 fender washers with the hole drilled to fit the studs on the lamp.
The above part numbers don't come up in a search of Direct Ford Parts.com. Any other ideas? I hate to go to my dealer if he's going to overcharge me.
The lamp part number is 6c3z15442a. I believe the wire asy has a part number specific to your vin. Shoot them an email with your vin and they will get you the right part number.
I installed my lights today. It was a snap with motomans instructions and they look awesome. I did it by myself and it took 3.5 hours and I took my time.
I bought the kit off of ebay, and it arrived today and I was just checking to see if everything was in working order, but the plug for the harness is bigger than the plug behind the kick panel. I was wondering if anyone else has run into this problem? I don't know if I have a harness for the overhead console version or if I need a different harness for my truck. I have a 2000 F-250 XLT. I started a thread on this eariler, but I thought that I might get more of a respone in this one. Any information would be helpful. Thanks
The only problem is that I don't really know much about wiring. That's why I was hoping for just the plug in harness. I know that I could do everything else involved, but I'm not to sure about the wiring, unless it wouldn't be a very hard thing to do.

Easy, ground the black wire to the roof or other metal support in the cab. Brown wire is tapped into a wire that switches on with the parking lights (you should be able to find this one on the left side by the fuse box - I had a link somewhere that showed the colour - I'll try and check my shop manual wiring diagram and see if I can get you the colour of wire to tap into). Do you have a test light (one with a ground clamp and lights up when you put the needle sharp tip into the wire?) these make things a lot easier when searching for the right wire.
No I do not have a test light. I'm waiting to see if maybe the guy sent me the wrong harness, but couldn't the harness be wired to the plug that is already behind the kick panel? Or would that not work? It seems in my mind like it would.
I actually made a little modification for a customer when we installed the Recon kit. We added a dial for him to control the light out put and just connected under the das with a 12V switched power.

I just hit a local Ford dealership up today and they said it was $46 for the harness and $11.76/light. A grand total of $104.8 not including tax.
If you can get it all for $78, can I send you some money?
