2005 psd
On my F-350 6.0 PSD there is a symbol that tells you how long to wait. When I read the book, two years ago, I think I remember that is for the glo plugs. On my bob cat, the glo plugs time out after 5 seconds. Look in your book for symbol or I will look in my truck if you need the symbol.
On the 05 I believe you have the same symbol my 07 has. It is like the symbol used for an inductor in electrical schematics.

It stays lit for different lengths of time depending on the outside temperature, but I believe the glowplugs themselves stay on for over a minute when the key is first turned to the on position. Once the light shuts of it is safe to start the truck.
I am interested in what you are trying to do, install a remote start possibly? If so you cannot tap into the wait to start light on an 05-up truck, you have to get a remote start unit with a built in glow plug timer.
