My dad just bought a 99 f250 superduty with a 7.3 and 6 spd, we are trying to figure out a few things, it didn't come with a owners manual. One questions is how much oil does it hold, and what is the best oil to use? The second question is what kind of antifreeze does it use, and what kind is the best? Third the block heater, how long can you leave it plugged up? Fourth do you start it up then unplug it or do you unplug then start it? The last question is where can we buy a owners manual? Any help is greatly appriciated! Thanks!
This is one stout motha!!

I also have a '99 PSD F250 6 Speed, here's what I know:
Just a shade under 15 qts of oil. Get a BIG drain pan!
I use Rotella 15-40, but as long as it has the anti-foaming agents that are needed brand shouldn't matter.
Not sure what anitfreeze is best, but it does require an additive to prevent damage to to bubbles\cavitation.
I plug my block heater into a heavy duty timer I got at Wal-Mart. It comes on about 3 hours before I leave in the morning and that seems to be plenty. It does not matter whether or not you start the truck first or unplug the heater first. I unplug first so I don't back out of the driveway with an extension cord in tow!!
You might want to check the brake pads soon. Mine were every thin on the rear wheels and one pad had completely come apart. My hubs were also very dry and tended you stick in the locked position. I also changed the fuel filter since it is cheap insurance where the injectors are concerned.

Try it for free first.
Go here:

You can select any year after 1996 and get the manual, supplements, etc. It's fairly new, I think.
