Looking for a remote starter, I want a fairly descent remote start for an 03 f350, it is a diesel so it needs the delay in the start to warm the glow plugs...i want it to start (turn off if possible) lock and unlock, and i seen a few with a alarm on them, theres a screen on the keyring thingy,,,which one do yall reccomend? THANKS TO ALL
check ultrastart at www.ultrastarters.com I sold them for years and have had only 6 or 7 go bad. what you are looking for is a two way system. you can find a dealer near
you by using the dealer locator at the web site. also they are easy on the install.
I have the remote and alarm on my 2005 king ranch show truck. it is a two way and
works great.
Last month I installed the factory remote start with the security system on my 06 diesel. The module with Tack inverter cost me $260.00 and took about 8 hours to install. It has a diesel timer built in I got it from http://www.powerstrokeshop.com/ and downloaded the instructions from http://www.gemsen.com/Ford/ Hope this helps
Check www.bought4less.com
you'll also need the BYPASS kit for the security key which they sell too.
They can sell the LCD remotes, remote start,,,,,,, but most people find them bulky.
Any tips you can pass on? I went to the site and looked through all the manuals. Looks like time consuming for the most part. I have an 08 an will probably need the PATS bypass. I'd like to take mine to a dealer because I don't have time to take a day on a weekend to do.
The install was pretty strait up the only thing that is time consuming is I soldered all the wires and used shrink tubing on all the connections. All the wires are easy to get to, except the one going to the lock motor in the driver’s door. I would have finished sooner except I had the white wire with the black stripe on the A harness connected to the same wire on the B harness. One goes to the cab light in the door and the other one goes to the key in sense.

Remote starters are not user installable. They are very complex and require professional installation.

That is all relevant. You are an installer thus want to make $$. I used to be an installer and understand where you are coming from. I have had to fix peoples "install" work. Depending on how "handy" the guy is he can do it himself. If not very, I agree take it somewhere, it can be very easy to fry something in the vehicle.
I'm not an installer, nor have I had any official training. I can however read instructions and do my own research. I've installed 2 remote starts (Viper 791xv and Viper 5900SST) in my trucks. Both worked flawlessly. It's really not as hard as people make it seem. If you know how to crimp and splice wires, they only hard thing is finding the "correct" wires you need to use.
I have installed all the equipment in my truck. I just know alarms take time and I don't have a lot of that until after Christmas. Thanks USMC D. I dropped it off at the dealer. They are doing it for $300 which is fine with me plus wiring up the sunroof and rear window to the aux choices.
Question: Have a 08 F250 5.4L... Is it plug and go if i want to add the factory remote starter and stock/better alarm system? The truck already has the ADVANCED SECURITY GROUP ($315) but think that is just the key thing.
