i must first say thanks for all your help, but i have another question. i am planing a engine rebuild for my engine consisting of: a 428 crank, some 410 pistons and connecting rods, a comp cams (as of right now)dual energy cam 275 intake and 285 exhaust, and a performer RPM manifold and a 650 - 700 cfm carb, an the engine i am building this from is a 390 backed by a c-6, i am wondering how good a set of edelbrock FE heads would work for my truck(69 f-250-dosen't do much work is my baby) and if you have any other advice that you would like to give concerning this it would be most appreacited.

The engine you're building sounds like a pretty good combo. of parts. One thing I'd consider, that's a heavy truck so it may be a good idea to advance the cam to get some low end. It depends a lot on what the Intake centerline is on the cam. I don't know your level of knowledge so if you'd like more explanation just let me know. Going to a 410 should help plenty with the torque to get that thing moving. I run the Ebrock heads that you were asking about, I strongly recommend them. From the parts you listed, you're not going for a pure torque motor so these heads are perfect for your application, great all around power. By the time you cleaned up a set of older performance castings, you'd be pretty damn close in price so I wouldn't let $$ stand in the way either. What gears and converter are you running?
Thanks chilly460 for asking about the converter and gears. for gears i currently have a 3.56 Dana 60, and i think i will stick with them i want to put in a posi but haven't decided. i wasn't sure whether or not i should change the stock one for an aftermarket one, if you have advice on that that would help. another think i am planing on putting the gearvendor overdrive behind the C-6.
thanks for all your help

You should have enough gear as long as you're running standard size tires. I run 4.10's with 38" tires and it still pulls pretty well. For torque converter, you may want to loosen it up a bit, put an RV unit in that's designed to stall at around 1800rpm. Definitely call a converter dealer and discuss it with a tech representative. That's just my opinion, with that much duration you won't have the pure lowend (below 1500rpm) that a stock motor has so it would help to put a little more stall in without going crazy with it.
