casting number questions

I'm trying to identify a block, and after reading verying info I'm confused. Have a C6ME-A block with date code 6H22. Should be a Aug. 22, 1966 428 correct? Now on the back drivers side of the block is cast an "A" about 2.5" tall. I have seen where the "C" is CJ and the "A" is SCJ. But aren't these only 68 and after?
Now a second block has C6ME-A but has a 390 bore with 428 heads. Couldn't get to date code. Any ideas?
And last I have a C7ME-A with a date of 7ME. M is the 13 letter, what month is that?
Thanks

On the date code, the “M” is for December, the letter “I” is skipped so you don’t mistake it for the number “1”. A C6ME-A block could have been anything by the time it was machined plus the standard 390/428 heads were identical. CJ blocks also had a sand-cast “J” on the back driver’s side. Maybe you have a P.I. block, your best bet is to verify the extra webbing supports for the main bearing saddles.
