I am a bit crazy and love my FE engine.... however i really love the sound of a turbo charging up... I am wondering if anyone has done such a crazy project. I would also like to hear what objections you have for the project. I know the amount of money needed will be alot... however i am looking at doing the rebuild of the engine then adding/replacing parts w/ the turbo parts...
it sounds like fun... but i would like some insight
Thanks
obviously it will be expensive.. You would need to rebuild it with low compression forged pistons and have a lot of custom parts made. There are some wild Turbo cars out there on the web. I would suggest finding some of the people who have adapted this to there engine. You could learn a lot. Blow through, draw through, etc, there is lots of imformation you need to digest.
Read through the latest HOT ROD magazine, there is a car with a twin turbo 460 that the guy built for less than $3000 using all factory parts from Pick&Pull type places it has around 360 horsepower but 714lb/ft of torque, that'll slow the earth when he takes off.
Garth, look around and see if you can find Mr Ak Miller. He was at one time selling the pieces to make 750 hp twin turbo FEs, he even ran them on propane. Many years ago he was a big-time ford engine builder. DF
