Internet help needed

here's the deal I have a motorola cable modem than a belkin G wireless router to all the computers. in a word the belkin bites big time. I have speent more money returning it for warrenty than I paid for it.

the big question ??????? what is a reliable router ?????? I mean one that works every day (what a novel concept) I am sick and tired of calling tech. support only to hear have you "power cycled the router"

I have a linksys wired only router at the clinic that is ok but sometimes locks up if you are downloading a lot of data. It seems to "blink" regularly to. Just in communication between the desktops though, internet is fine. That one is 4 years old.
The wireless one at home is a Netgear. I like that one but haven't tested it with downloading multiple large files at the same time yet. I think it would be fine.

I'd go with Netgear RangeMax wireless router. Large files, no problem. Good range. Never have had an issue with it in the 2 years I've had it setup.

Here's a link to the Netgear page:
http://www.netgear.com/Products/Rout...dGateways.aspx

Good luck to ya.

I'm running the Linksys WRT54G router and a Linksys SD216 16 port switch at the house. It works great for what I do at the house with 3 computers running.

This is the one I just bought also. My wireless Linksys G is a total piece of crap.
We have to reset it, no less than 3Xs a day, and it is in the basement with no inside entrance. A couple of puter geeks I know, claim Linksys has an overheating problem.

3com, syslink, and netgear are all okay for cheaper ones.

A good rule of thumb is if they have not made ISA and PCI cards in the past AND do not offer cards now, you might want to skip buying a router from them and buy a brand name instead.

FWIW: Belkin should be -okay- so you might want to see if something else is effecting your -> wireless <- router, like a neighbor.

don't think any neighbors are afecting it as all the lots here are 2.6 acres. this is my second belkin and it was fine for about a month now wired conections no longer work and to use wireless I have to power cycle it about every hour.
