Intake,exhaust,chip

Hey guys (again)
wow u guys are right these X's are addicting....looking for the best overall products to upgrade my 03 2wd PSD..... i was looking at exhaust and seen two brands that caught my eye... i see a banks exhaust 650.00 that is 4" all the way with muffler and tip and its stainless and 1yr warranty..... then i see this jardine 220.00 that is aluminized straight exhaust 3.5 off turbo ( says spools faster) and then 4" all the way back no muffler no tip..... lifetime warranty. and then there are the intakes... there are the AFE for 350.00 and then the airaide for about 250.00 ... like i said if the product is better i will pay the extra cash... just wondering on ur opinion and ur experience with these or like products... any and all info is greatly appreciated... i know the straight exhaust will be louder but it states a 22hp gain vs the banks hp???? also what about the 5in straight exhaust??? thanks again... sorry for all the questions but im ready to make this one unique...

Regards
Rob

I have the AFE Stage 2 Pro Guard 7 CAI, the MBRP 4" exhaust (Excursions I think are limited to the 4") and the F5 DP-Tuner chip.

Hands down, you will not find a BETTER tuner than Jody at DP-Tuner.

You'll find the MBRP is also top of the line when it comes to exhausts. Seriously, why pay for more when you get the same quality and performance?

As for the CAI, the AFE is also top of the line, but there are some other good ones out there too. Do a search in the 6.0L PSD forum to get a good picture of whats available for your rig.

Stewart

PS - You MUST add gauges to your wish list, especially if you're gonna get some custom tunes.

No reason to change the intake on a 6.0L unless you're planning to go over 500rwhp--it's just a waste of money. I'm running 425-450rwhp with a 65mm turbo (stock is 56) and haven't moved the filterminder yet. Exhaust is a personal preference. MBRP is well liked and very good quality. 3.5" downpipe to 4" is very acceptable with just a tuner. Use the money you saved on the CAI and buy some real gauges since the factories are idiot lights with needles.

For tuning there's only one place to go: Matt@Spartandieseltech.com

Go over to the 6.0 forum and you'll find lots and lots of FTE members singing his praises. His customer service is second to none and his product and mechanical knowledge is top tier. Give him a call at 828-606-3263 or email him at the above address. You WON"T be disappointed.

MBRP exhaust is the best bang for the buck, stainless turbo back with cat delete pipe is around $500 & sounds great. my mods are listed below...I am very happy with the combo and I'm getting much better mpg. As far as tuning the only way to go is with Matt @ Spartan. I am happy with the Bully Dog but will upgrade in the future. Matt does custom tunes and from what everyone says they are night and day different than any other tune out there. A CAI is up to you...it probly won't do much for performance(deffinatly won't hurt perf) and won't filter as well as the stock one, but is does sound a lot better than stock when the hood is up.

Never even heard of the guy. Not that I know every tuner out there, but his name was never even mentioned in any post I pulled up when I did a search for tuners in '05 and '06, before deciding on who to go with.

Does he tune the 7.3's too, or just the 6.0L PSD's?

As far as tuners go the SCT Xcalibrator 2 is great, check out the posts and you can read for days about how everbody loves theirs. I have one with the Xtreme Street program from Diesel Innovations and it's awesome. I use to have the Edge Juice Platinum and it doesn't even compare to the SCT w/ custom programs, and Eric at DI will tweak the program until it does everything you want it to do. As far as Exhaust the MBRP & Banks are both great setups, when I change out my stock exhaust I will go with Banks just because I like the sound of theirs over the MBRP. When it comes to intakes I think the AFE Stage II with the Pro Guard 7 filter is the best at filtering for an aftermarket but It's still not as good at filtering as the stock setup & I would rather give up a little horsepower and keep the dirt out of the turbo.

Disregard my last questions guys, I did a quick search in the 6.0 forum and got the info.

He pretty much specializes in the 6.0 and 6.4 diesels.

And judging my the posts, he's the man for the 6.0

Stewart, I was going to tell you what you already posted, almost everyone in the 6.0 forum swear by Matt. but unfortunatly for you and other 7.3 guys he only does the 6.0 & 6.4 stuff.

Judging by the posts, he's held in the same high regard as Jody is by us 7.3 guys!

Good to know if I ever get a 6.0!

You'll have to forgve my previous, myopic post that assumes the same tuners that tune our 7.3's would be the exact same group that tunes the 6.0L's.
