Newbie here.Well,I found the fuel relay,it was bad, bought new, installed, pumps hum. How hard is it to test the pressure of the fuel rail? Do I do it at the tire valve looking thing or what? Oh, 86 f 150 EFI 5.0.
That's what I thought. I just saw the schrader valve and didin't know what it was called. So, Does anyone know if Auto Zone has a fuel pressure tester?
Well, I think I've narrowed it down to maybe the fuel pressure regulator, if that's what's mounted on the fuel rail on drivers side, towards the fire wall. Now I need to find out how to check. When I relieve the pressure at the schrader valve it's air, but it's under pressure. I'm thinking I'm not getting fire to the intank pump. Anybody???
There was no gas from the vacuum line to the regulator. Need to find out if I have power to in tank pump. I guess lay under tank when ignition is turned on to see? I have a test light, anything I can check for power with it?
The tank has a connector going to it with four wires, pull back the sleeving and you will see a red wire (hot) orange wire (ground from actual pump) black wire (chassis ground) and last wire I think was blue w/yellow (fuel gage wire). Shave off some of the insulation from the red wire and check if you have power with your test light or you can run a ground wire and hot wire from your battery to see if pump is good and actually kicks on or not. remember red is hot and orange is ground. good luck!
I do have power to both pumps, disconnected fuel line at fuel rail(supply),not return, nothing comes out. Did the same at the pressure pump, on the frame, nothing. I wonder if I have enough fuel in the tank, put in 4.5 gal. or so. I thought that would be enough. Might not be.
