Shifting problem on a 86
I just did a stick to auto change over on my 86 and I have a shifting problem
OK I hooked up the vaccumm line and adjust the shifter. Got everything done but its not shifing into drive. It started not shifting at all but I adjusted the shift module a little and it will go to 2nd now. Can anyone tell me the best way to adjust it so I can find out for sure if thats the issue. Its a C6 out of a 83 F150 on a 300I6.

Make sure you have enough oil in it. Check it with the engine running.
Take the shifter linkage loose and move the tranny lever by hand. Count the number of clicks and put it in drive. Then hook the linkage back up and see where the shifter is, and adjust it till it's right.

I did fill the tourque convertor first before installing it
Yes it has enough fluid in it
It doesnt have linkage it has a B&M ratchet shifter in it and its adjusted correctly.
You can shift the shifter into drive but when your driving it shifts from 1st to second but wont shift from 2nd to D
Its a brand new shift module and a rebuilt trans.
