I got the smoke colored Recon tail lights for my 2008 F-250. Well Ford changed the reverse light socket from '07 to '08, so I can't plug the reverse light into the Recon tail lights.

I called Recon and the guy said I need an adapter from Ford parts department. I went down to the dealer today. The guy found the old style reverse light socket that fits into the Recon tail lights. But when I got home and tried to put on the Recon tail lights (again) the reverse light bulb and the wireing don't fit this new socket.

Has anybody put the Recon tail lights on a 2008 truck? Maybe there is an other adapter I need?

I'm not trying to talk down Recon, but it seems underhanded that their website says these tail lights fit, when in fact they don't.

 

First of all, if you still can send the lights back to Recon. You can get the exact same light from Dfuser at his store or from Zomkspeed on ebay for about half of what Recon sells them for.

As far as the reverse light goes I am not sure. Dfuser would probably be able to help though, as he sells both the LED taillights and the 08 taillights. He could probably let you know if there is some kind of adapter needed. Otherwise you could always cut the socket off your 08 and install the one from the 99-07.

 

The 08 plugs and bulbs for the reverse are different. We make our modified plug to fit the 08 Tail lights for anyone with earlier truck.

I need to go the other way. How do I use tail lights with the the old style reverse socket on my 2008 truck?

I wish I had seen the recon stuff on your site before I ordered. Could have saved a few bucks.

 

Go to your local autoparts store and check theor plug selection. It should be a standard type plug they have in stock. Take the taillights with you.
