Just got back from a nice long trip to the beautiful beaches of Alabama/Florida........Got 21 mpg......2 people...2 duffle bags......1 ice chest.....avg. speed 72 mph w/ cruise on....I'm happy......
My 99 F150 4x4 ext cab short bed 3.42 gears LT 245 r 16 tires gets 16 mpg if I baby the heck out of it. Usually 13-14mpg. Own a GMC 2500 HD 6.0 and it gets 15 mpg most of the time. But the thing to remember is that they are all trucks and trucks do not get great MPG. My '07 Taurus (fleet car) gets 31 mpg and the wife's Saturn Vue gets 26 mpg. I bought the Taurus, because I got tired of filling the trucks all the time at $100 plus per tank (at least on the GMC it is)
i got the 99 4x4 with the 4.6 and 96k on it. im getting 15.5 everytime, a little less if i can only make it to the genericgas station. I hope when i finaly work all the problems out with the truck ill gain another mile or 2. i got duals, intake and a chip. dont really go on the highway much. most of its all country roads with no center lines and lots of hills and stop signs.
