MSD Ignition, baby! Seriously, this was the most effective bolt-on to date, well, I just did my electric fan, and it's a toss up. Here's you answer: Do both, you'll love them the same. Both will require basic wiring, and niether one should take more than 2 hours, no matter how meticulously you work. I wouldn't leave the garage again without my MSD or my electric fan, they both have amzing benefits, including power, and fuel economy, as well as:

MSD Ignition: less plug fouling, quicker starts, lower emissions, better throttle response ($190-whole project)

Electric fan: MUCH faster throttle response, quieter operation, cooler operating temps, increased water pump life, increased belt life, more space underhood, and less danger of getting your fingers chopped of ($130-whole project)

Let me know if your interested in either, and I can look up some part #'s and some prices, I've done both of these mods, and can't say enough about them!

Hey TK - what fan(s) are you using? Most of the electric fans I can find are significantly more expensive than $130.

I'll second the MSD - I installed mine last week, did notice some difference in power and throttle response (however, I'd only been driving the truck about 3 weeks, so didn't really have a good feel for how it SHOULD feel). Then last night, I somehow blew it up. I was re-routing my spark plug wires (without disconnecting the battery), and it wouldn't start. Disconnected the MSD, and started right up. Let me tell you, I noticed the difference in power and throttle response when it WASN'T there! Now I've gotta send it in to MSD and see if they can fix it. I'm bummed...

302 out of a Mustang (GT I'm assuming) has a roller cam and different firing order (351w) than your truck 302 otherwise it's the same. I replaced the 302 in my 82 Bronco with one, ran great, a little slow off the line but once rolling was great.

i have a 302 in my 95 4x4 f150- gas mileage not so good. the 5.0l is a great engine in a mustang, but i think it works to hard moving the weight of the truck compaired to a car. i plan on selling the 5.0 and getting a 351w. the swap is fairly staight forward and same tranny can be used. there are other things you could do, but the 351 rocks, and it will get you better mileage- but not cheap. good luck

Funny, I put a msd ignition (6A) and blaster 2 coil in my truck (84 F150 351w) and a K&N at the same time and didn't notice a thing. The truck needs a tune-up and that might help a little but not very impressed so far.

'eh Canada, without a good healthy set of plugs and wires, all the spark and airflow won't make a hill of beans' worth of difference. Seriously, I'm running the Permacool Hi-Po 16" reversible fan, with 30 amp relay and an adjustable radiator fin probe, can set the fan off anywhere from 160-220 degrees. Reading strait form my Jeg's invoice:

077119115 Perma-Cool 16" Hi-Po elec. fan kit $88.99

077118905 Perma-Cool Elec. fan Wire Kit $49.99

Here is a link showing you how to install an electric fan. I did it and it was easy. Save the cash from the brand new fan and get a bigger one out of a firebird or a Bonneville. I got mine out of a Bonneville SSEi. It is 19" acrossed and keeps my 351 nice and cool. Use the adjustable temp control (costs around $20).

Interesting Swirk. can you tell us more about those fans? like what they are rated at, what years those cars had them and how much you paid? any wiring tips/tricks?
thanks.
Rusty.
