I hit a deer at 3 AM in Georgia on I-85. I looked in the rearview mirror, and saw a cloud of hair..... Made a small dent in the bumper. Not bad for doing over 75mph.
I hit one at 68mph 4:30 in the am after 8 hours of driving and thought i was going crazy when i got out and didn't find any damage at all until i saw the hair and blood splatter down the passenger side now thats one strong bumper
I hear ya. Felt the same way about my truck too. I didn't get a deer, but I got a huge rock from a dump truck, right below the rear view mirror, Yesterday afternoon..... 5" round crack.. !!!!
I didn't even see it comming. I think it was air born before I got to the truck, and it dropped onto my winsheild. He was a way's past after it hit. ....... One would think you shouldn't get a rock chip, on pavement......
I got a barb wire gate once..... slid right through it, after a freezing rain. Didn't even get a scratch...... guess the horseshoes have run out now......
I'm real paranoid about hitting a deer up here in the north woods. I've been thinking of getting a heavy bumper/grill guard like the Road Armor or HBS.
One question, did the deer have antlers? Why is it most road kill deer you see appear to be does or fawns?
Sorry to here that Joe. My wife and I hit a deer one time on an interstate @ 55 mph in a 87 Full size bronco we had. Never even cracked the license plate holder on the bumper. BUILT FORD TOUGH!
Knock on wood, I have been fairly lucky lately...last deer I hit was this spring, but I hit it with the company truck! Although I have hit a half dozen with my SD's in the past. Best one was when I had the plow on.....not even a scratch!
