This is the "big hit" variety. Looks like the bumper, driver headlight assy, grill, and front plate holder (damn it....I just put that nice chromed plate with the Ford blue oval on it too). I went back last night looking for the plate holder once I realized it was gone. I hit the deer about two miles from the house so I'll go back again this morning during daylight to see if I can find that front plate.
This was about 930 last night coming back from wally world (I'm changing the oil today and needed a filter). There was a string of on-coming traffic and I saw a deer in a field to the right...about 15 yards off the road and I backed off the pedal...when you see one, there's always more. The oncoming traffic got to about 50 yards from me and all of a sudden there's a deer's head at the front of the truck (heading from driver to passenger side). The deers head was right at the height of the hood. We felt the impact and it rolled under the truck. That was the last I saw of it until I came back to it. Looks like it took a head hit and didn't suffer.
Now I'm waiting for the insurance folks to do their thing....damn deer!
To make an agravating situation worse...I'm heading out for a weekend conference today at noon. Oh well....that's why we pay for insurance, and USAA is pretty good about taking care of their customers.
If you live that close to deer I'd consider a front bumper replacement with a grill guard attachment. We call the cattle guards here. My wife hit a cow at 45 mph in my truck (she swerved and tried to miss it but didn't swerve enough). All it did was take some paint off the grill guard.
If I were you I'd be more concerned about oncoming traffic swerving to avoid a deer and jumping into my lane, and of course the possible/probable damage to my under garments from the deer collision. I hope you carry a spare.
I hit one 2 weeks ago going 70. She jumped the guard rail and I didn't see her till she was in the air. Bent the hood, fender, drivers door and broke out the grill and light. I insisted on new body parts and the insurance company agreed. $4100.00. They start on it Monday.
Just be glad it was only a Deer and not an ELK! I had a friend who hit a bull Elk with a Toyota driving 75mph.......wasn't pretty! My friend was okay......the truck......not so good. Complete loss.

It may not have been a deer, but it'll attest to that front bumpers toughness. My pal wen and got his 87 F-150 ext cab 2wd stuck. I hooked up to him with a strap and went to pulling him out, I told him to give her a lil gas to help out and well he gave me the whole pedal, as he came charging at me i punched it in reverse as he swerved but he caught the strap and swung into me with the extended part of the cab, i pushed his cab side in till the inside bulged barely missing the door. All I got was a paint smudge on the bumper. At least the truck was brown. Nother thing is where you are when you hit the deer, Texas has dogs that look like deer....go hit even a spike buck in northern Mn, i've seen even the biggest of trucks totaled when they hit as well as sliding a pu sideways from a bedside hit. You didn't hit a deer, you hit a dog.......
If you get one of those bumper mounted deer whistle alarms, be sure you mount it properly. Put it on backwards and you be drawing deer in from 2 miles away!
Forgot to mention yesterday must've been a bad day for deer all over. My freezer and broadheads are both working well.
OK, I joined the club last night, Joe. Tagged a doe with the wife's new Murano.
As the deer came in front of me she tried to jump over the car. I I hit her a glancing blow and flipped her up. The guy driving behind me said the deer got about 15-20 feet of altitude after the impact, landed in the bushes about 10 feet from the road, then walked away.
It would have been cool if he got a video of it. All I saw was deer **** flying in front of the window.
I saw a border patrol agent that hit a deer, he must have been doing 80 or 90, maybe more, the deer took out his oil pan and tranny pan, not to mention the radiator. There was "deer everywhere". I felt sorry for that Dodge. The border patrol doesn't think speed limits apply to them down south.
I got the toy out of the shop last night...SHE'S BEAUTIFUL AGAIN!!!
I was chatting with the body shop guys and he mentioned that they just replace the whole side of a Tundra...same thing, a deer strike...but it took out everything on the drivers side from the front fender back to the bed! So much for it being a tough competitor!

I was just happy to get back in my truck.
Joe
Hooray!
I think it's just a scam to get your truck painted every few years.
