Flake rust on oil pan

Flake rust on oil pan

Just finished changing the oil and noticed a small patch of rust forming on the upper portion of the oil pan, anything I can do to stop it? It seem to me htat undercoating won't help as I think the oil pan gets too hot during the operation. Smeared a little used oil on it for now, I live in PA so winter is just around the bend and the road salt will be flying soon. Looks like a bear to change it out if it gets a hole in it.

it is a bear to change. the motor has to come out. I would scrap/sand till all the rust is gone. then get a good rust converter on it and paint it thick.
