Hey guys i need some advice on what i should do. I guess i could modify my own dp using the stock mount and just cuttin and weldin a bit but let me knw what you think im wanting to get the largest dp in there possible but dont mind if its just a 3 1/2 but would really like a 4. Let me knw what you think
well, 4" would be nice but i dont think it'd be necessary unless you're making some big time hp. i think luke made his almost 600hp pull with a 3 or 3.5". im sure he'll chime in on this one.
The turbo outlet is 3 1/2 IICR so a 4" would really help it much for the work it takes to get it to fit without hitting. A 3 1/2" DP is tight between the engine and firewall even after the firewall is pushed back.
the 3.5 is perfect the 4 is always better, 4 is ignorant to get in, good bit of firewall "modding" but a sd downpipe is a direct bolt-on, not direct-fit,
Anything larger than a 3" pipe and it will require beating/modding the floor pan/firewall of your truck. I don't think its worth it unless you doing a dedicated drag/pull truck. And if thats the case just do a hood stack!
i think the 3.5 is worth the work seeing as the turbo outlet is 3.5. a 3 incher is stil causing some restriction in the pipes, a 3.5 would allow for smooth flow. i agree the 4 inch is overkill but it does look cool crammed in there
i got a three in body lift on my truck... and i was wondering would it be easier for me to gut a diff down pipe on??? or would i still have to beat the **** out of the firewall????
i am pretty sure if you did have to modify anything it would be very little, the sd pipe looked like it routes the same as the obs truck, i remember the extra room back there on my 460 truck with the 3 inch body lift so i am confident in the upgrade
no you won't get more power. you will actual percieve a loss in power. a larger DP moves the power curve up about 400 rpm's from what all the SD guys say. Ask them about DP sizes. you won't get many that will recommend larger than 3.5 inch. many like the 3".
