Changing rusty oil pan
Changing rusty oil pan
Hey guys i have a few questions on changing my oil pan I just found that it is full of tiny rust holes its leaking oil pretty bad. I did some searching didn't find a clear answer if the motor has to come out or not. I also read about the two peace pan and i don't want to go that route either. Has anyone on here changed an oil pan and if so how bad of a job is it and could a guy do it with moderate mechanic experience.
you gotta lift the engine to change the pan, it sucks! i seen a guy on here that cut out the cross beam, replaced the pan then welded back in the cross beam but he had access to a shop. i'm sure someone on here can find it..
either way it seems like a pretty big size job...

I'm going to be pulling my engine later on this year for a new pan.
Best way to get it done is to flip the engine upside down on an engine stand.
Pan is glued down with silicone so all traces of oil must be washed away for proper adhesion to occur.
Hence the engine stand.
While you are in there, make sure the oil pickup tube is not cracked and the piston cooler jets are secure.
