Halloween is right around the corner. If you can wait until the first of Nov Im sure you can find a fog machine half price or less. If not there should be plenty of places where they are for sale. I havent looked myself but Id bet Walmart or Target or somewhere like that would have them.
Slag smokem peace pipe!! Air conditioner on outside air hi speed and a hot day or versa vice, With the back of your hand or forearm you might feel the temp difference. Or in a garage with the ac on outside air a cigarette run around the suspected leak should see a change in the smkes direction. Man we sure are giving big tobacco some business, their next advertisement is going to be in the matco or snap on catalog!! On my ranger on the top of the window is a small crack if you are doing 80mph you can hear wind getting in anything lower it doesn't get in.
When I was chasing leaks on my kids 97 ranger I almost built one. My plan was to use an old air tank set up with: 1. a hose with a valve for smoke output, 2. a tire valve so add a little air pressure, and 3. a threaded plug big enough to drop one of the those little round smoke bombs you can get at fireworks stores. Open the plug, light the smoke bomb, drop it in. Screw the plug tight, give it a blast of air (should only need a couple PSI), then open the valve and (hopefully!) smoke should come out...
If you can figure out a way to pressurize the inside using a leaf blower, I'd try a good soapy water solution slopped on the outside with a very wet sponge. Using any kind of smoke as a tracer will probably (1) leave a lingering smell in the vehicle, and/or (2) be so diluted by the surrounding outside air and wind currents so as to be virtually invisible (especially if the leaks are small).
