I liked him when he was playing - think he had great potential. If the Red Sox had given him some run support and if he hadn't got drilled by a line drive, he may have been part of the World Series run this year.

Unfortunately I don't think he will bring much attention in free agency.

any of you all hope schill comes back?? i do, i think hes a great veteran for playes like buckholz,lester,dice-k etc.......

we need to sign lowell!!!!!!!!!

Love to resign both of them...however...as with Pedro and Damon...some team is likely to give Lowell an extra year at the same crazy money the Saawx will offer. Somewhere along the line fiscal restraints will kick in. Love Lowell...for three years...probably not for four years. Schilling was injured and ineffective most of last year...he isn't going to get better with age. Reasonable base with performance bonuses is the way to go with him!!!

I hope they both come back, because if nothing else they are a good club house influence as stated..

Allthough....

I think Shilling is going.. He likes to be top dog and he has lost that to Beckett.
He will probably end up with a team that needs a #1 starter.. He will go where the money is..

Lowell I think will be back.. As long as the Sox can match what the market can offer.. He likes being the center of attention with the sox fans..
Anywhere else and he is just another face in the crowd..

Heard a rumor Tuesday...Twins may be looking to unload Santana...supposedly they are talking to the Saawx about...get this...Lester...Bucholz...and Ellsbury in trade. Don't know...three great prospects for a legitimate #1...who would be a number two on the Saawx???

What do you folks think??? Bear in mind Santana is a free agent after this year.

I hope you are kidding! If the Sox lose any one of those players the team is worse off. If they lose all three they lose not only great talent and potential but they lose three very well liked (by the fans) players. Lester has shown to be a fighter - he got cancer, beat it and won game four all in a year. Bucholz threw a no-hitter in his second start and Ellsbury runs like lightning. People go to games to see that kind of excitement.

Santana? No thanks.

Maybe if they throw in Gagme.....
