It's actually more... hearty, than strong. It has significantly less alcohol than most ales - about 4.1% - so you tend to get full before you get blitzed - keeps you out of trouble! And it's lighter too - that's why in a black and tan the Guinness is on top of the ale. All that and only 198 calories a pint. The only down side is that you really have to go to Ireland to get it poured right! But I manage to suffer through with the widget cans between trips...
I am stuck in Boston working a trade show... the rally is going to be 3 miles from me... with no way to attend.
It's easy - jump on the T and get there in no time. Who cares if your booth is unattended for a couple hours? Just leave the trinkets out where people can grab them, throw a few business cards on the table and off you go.

See you there...
I think the president (who is the other gent working here with me) MIGHT notice my absence. Oh well.
Just watched Papelbon do his dance a few times during the "Rolling Rally"...way too much time on my hands at work lately...thank God he was fully clothed!!! Rumor is he may wear a kilt for the last dance...hopefully we don't find out what real men wear under their kilts !!!
Okay gents, I took one for the team and actually attended some of the parade. It was tough but someone had to do it. There was probably a 3:2 ratio of women to men and they all seemed to be under 30.....damn, why didn't the Sox do this when I was young and available.
I watched the end of the parade at the intersection of Boylston and Tremont street for those who know the area. It was insane! Couldn't see the players but the atmosphere made up for it.
Perfect weather today. 60°, clear sky, there was even a sky-writer spelling out "Red Sox" in the crystal clear blue sky. Best day in Boston in a long time - almost made me forget how much it sucks here the rest of the time.

On behalf of all who post here...I believe I can speak for the posters....we certainly appreciate the sacrifices you made to attend. It is a great thing you do for us Saawx fans who couldn't be there!!! You are one wonderful individual to suffer the slings and arrows for us!!!
Then someone told me about Guinness triple stout.. They said it was good like I was describing the Dunkles. So I tried it...
Well I took 1 sip and gave the rest of the 6-pack to my father..
That stuff was horrible..
You're confusing Guinness Extra Stout with Guinness Draught. For a long time the only thing you could get in this country was the Guinness Extra Stout - that stuff is damn near undrinkable, IMHO.
Guinness Draught is a whole different animal. For a long time Guinness Draught was not readily available over here as it takes a special tap setup - it pumps nitrogen through tiny holes as it's being tapped. But a few years ago they developed these cans (and now bottles) with a little nitrogen charged capsule inside which does the same basic thing as the special tap. So now you can get Guinness Draught here. Plus there as more and more places around that have it on tap.
The "widget" cans are not quite as good as the real stuff, but they are pretty darn good. If you like stout, there's nothing better than a Guinness (that's why they Drop Kick Murphy's!) Nothing else will do!
Didn't take Schilling long to file for free agency...he must have texted MLB from the Duck Boat... ...I wish him well...without him 2004 wouldn't have been possible...who can forget the "Bloody Sock"??? Kielty and Hinske also filed...wouldn't mind seeing Kielty back...Hinske???...thanks for the memories...don't let the door hit you in the **** on the way out!!!

The local radio ('rko) said that "Schilling and three other players filed". When they didn't say who they were I figured it had to be some less than every day names. Who was the fourth?
