I am at 43,000 miles on my truck , and as of the other day when i turn my tires either way, at a stop or moving the power steering makes way more noise then normal. It sounds like how a fork lift sounds when you put the forks up or down. Its like a cusshhhhhhhhhh... I checked the power steering level and it was right in the middle of the stick.
This is way more noise then it ever made, any one have any tips or suggestions.
Not part of your warranty. I have an extended warranty and thus it cost me $100 - I got a few other things done during the trip. But, it does point out an improvement is possibly available - costs is an unknown though.
I saw the info below from a post quite a ways back (can't recall who posted it). I am not sure if it only applied to certain Model Year trucks or is still true. It is just a liitle more information - maybe others can comment on their experiences w/ the OEM pump reliability.
Ford has gone cheap with the current power steering pumps and so if you are replacing the pump strongly consider going to the saginaw pump. I ordered mine from AGR and here is the link http://www.agrperformance.com/informationcenter.html . I can't recal how much I paid but in the +200 magnatude. It is easy to find the pump from other suppliers but the trick is it needs a custom bracket and I only know AGR to make one but it also needs a minor adjustment which the supplier provide step by step instructions at the bottom of the web link I referred to.
