Making your bed?

New to the site here I have done some searching however I am not able to find what I need so I ask this question. But first a litle background. I just got a new 07 ford f150 and love it. I am a conservation officer and its my work truck. I am looking to find a way to make my bed a little easier to use. It has a cap and I am way to short to reach the side windows so I am looking to make somthing (Cheap) to avoid climbing in to the truck evertime I need something. Anyone out there build anything I may be able to use. I am also intrested in knowing how someone out there may be adding light to the cap covered bed.

Thanks.

There are plety of 12volt LED and Neon lights available that all you would need to do is run a power, ground and switch.

At flee markets they have a long rod with a pair of fingers that work by a trigger. You could use it to do the reaching.

You could also line your bed with a sheet of plywood and put those industrial rollers underneath. Open your tailgate and pull the sheet of plywood out to get whatver you need. Granted I'm not sure what all you are trying to grab (weight-wise).

ReAX is correct on lighting. There are TONS of aftermarket light sources. Ebay is a great place, RECON are nice :

It all depends on how nice of product you want to put in there. Hope this helps some

I'd build a box on a piece of plywood and add some rollerblade wheels on it.

If you have to get to the sides, use a wheel step. http://www.topoftheline.com/wheelstep.html I have used these in shops, and they work pretty well.
