I recently had a fire (campfire wood) in my truck bed. It took pretty quick care of my plastic tool box, plastic liner, and my passanger side bed rail cap. It is an 98 F-150 with an 8 foot bed. I am looking for anyone who has or knows where I can find a used bed rail cap. I need the dark charcoal/black snap in factory cap.
I think the bed rail caps are held on with glue and snap in connectors, and taking them off usually tears them up. I know www.stylinconcepts.com has those, but not sure if they have the 8' ones. This might be a dealer only item. Oh yea, how did you end up with a campfire in your bed!? Lucky it didn't get to the gas tank!! BOOM!
Luckily they are only held on with the stupid snaps, although yours could be glued from the melted plastic. I'd check the online parts places like rockauto. I'd also suggest since they are already off, sanding and painting them with a good krylon plastic paint. I painted mine black and love it compared to the crappy greyish stock color.
I brought the night before campfire wood home with me, big mistake I know. Well I've checked some local yards, there isn't a whole lot to choose from in Maine. I would like to avoid going to a dealer due to the fact I am a college student who could do without spending more than $100. I was able to rip the melted (passenger side off) the drivers side came off very easy, it didn't feel or look like there was any glue. Thanks for your advice.
I did not take any pictures, I ripped the tool box and bed liner out due to frustration. I do have whats left of the bed liner, maybe I'll take a few pics within the next couple days. No one happens to have a 97-00 parts truck?
